We live in Florida and have been to both the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean. I would suggest the 4-10 year old age group as the ideal range.Īs I have mentioned previously, OLLY'S TREASURE is a learning tool. We not only looked for character(s) mentioned on each page but he also picked out other sealife and either told me what it was or wanted to know the name (fish, snail, shell, etc). Colorful and descriptive, it reminded me somewhat of a "Where's Waldo?" picture book that was in vogue years ago. On the young side, I had to read and go back and forth between pages so he could find the characters we were talking about. My oldest grandson will turn four in a few weeks and he enjoyed this book when I read it to him. "About this title" may belong to another edition of this title.OLLY'S TREASURE is a wonderful book to introduce young children to oceanic life. Kelli Nash was raised on the banks of Rock Creek, Maryland, and holds degrees in graphic design and illustration from American Intercontinental University in Atlanta. About the Author:Įlaine Ann Allen grew up on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and enjoys teaching children about nature. The book is a great introduction to the wonders of the Chesapeake Bay and what kids and families can find and explore here in the Maryland/Virginia area. Written from an oyster's-eye view, all of the sights can be seen from the water. This area is so rich in both natural and cultural history, and this book highlights just a handful of what our region has to offer. This book is a celebration of all the great things we have in the bay area, such as beautiful waterfowl like the Great Blue Heron, architectural wonders like the Bay Bridge and Bay Bridge-Tunnel, natural history of the Calvert Cliffs, homegrown innovations like the skipjack, local cultural monuments like the Choptank River Bridge and Pier, and historical structures like the Cape Henry lighthouses.
